
On Monday, 18 September, at 16.00, we are pleased to invite everyone to meet the team of the foundation “Liepāja 2027” at the Culture House “Wiktorija”, on 36/38 Graudu iela, Liepāja, so we can share with you the latest updates about the European Capital of Culture 2027, reflect on the progress made until now and discuss the future plans.
The “Liepāja 2027” team will present the strategy of the European Capital of Culture 2027 project, its current status, and outline the preparations for the 400th anniversary of Liepāja which is ahead of us in 2025.
We plan to present the concept of Liepāja’s 400th birthday celebrations, as well as the expected opportunities for public participation and how every local resident and city visitor can contribute to turning Liepāja’s 400th anniversary celebrations into an exciting event throughout the year.
During our conversation, we will also discuss various aspects of the European Capital of Culture 2027 programme development, explore opportunities for public participation, and share the team’s views on the current projects that will be launched in the near future.

Contemporary Art Exhibition “Concerns. Crazy Days” at the Liepāja Peter’s Market (Pētertirgus)
The exhibition will run until the end of May, gathering a selection of established and emerging artists from Liepāja and Latvia, who will reflect on pressing contemporary issues while spotlighting the potential of unconventional venues in the city as platforms for contemporary art.
