Invitation to meet the organizers of Liepāja’s cultural life

Everyone interested is invited to a meeting on Tuesday, 22 November, to look back on the achievements of the Liepaja culture sector this year, to learn about the latest developments of the “European Capital of Culture 2027” project, to outline future plans, to meet with representatives of the non-governmental sector and independent representatives of creative industries.

The post pandemic period in the city of Liepaja has resumed quite rapidly – 2022 was an important year in the cultural life of Liepaja with being awarded the title of “European Capital of Culture 2027”, the newly opened concert garden “Pūt, vējiņi!”, the opening of the digital concert hall, the city’s major public events, new theatre performances at “Liepāja Theatre”, active participation of the “Liepāja Museum” and the 17th 19th century interior museum “Madame Hoyer’s Guest House”, preparation for the XXVII Latvian Song and XVII Dance Festival, the opening of the “Awakening Garden” (“Atmodas dārzs”) and the “Liepāja Restoration Centre”, activities in Karosta, as well as number of other events.

In order to talk about the achievements of this year, to discuss the challenges of the cultural sector, to outline the preparations for the 400th anniversary of Liepaja in 2025 and 2027 when the “European Culture 2027” programme will be fully realised, to raise the issues of public participation, audience expansion opportunities and cooperation with international partners, the “European Capital of Culture 2027” team together with representatives of the Liepaja’s “Department of Culture”, major cultural institutions and independent cultural experts will present the achievements of this year and outline the plans for the future.

It is also planned to give an insight into attracting various co-financing opportunities, specific fund and programme organised competitions and other ways to attract regional, national and international funding and implementation of various projects.

The meeting will take place on 22 November from 16:00 to 18:00 at cultural house “Wiktorija”.
