For the first time in Liepāja – the concert “Rock and Organ” invites listeners to vote for the Liepāja Song in organ sounds
On October 4 at 20:00, audiences are invited to an unforgettable concert, “Rock and Organ for Liepāja”, at Liepāja’s Lutheran Church. For the first time, the concert organization Okoncert will visit Liepāja – known for blending classical music with rock, combining the majestic sound of the organ with electric guitars and vibrant lighting to create a one-of-a-kind experience.
“Okoncert is known for organizing spectacular and uncommon concerts in Latvia, particularly at St. Paul’s Church in Riga, attracting large and diverse audiences. Their performances are enhanced with dramatic lighting and video projections, creating a truly immersive experience. Now, for the first time, they’re coming to Liepāja with a specially curated program that combines classical music with hits from both international and Latvian rock bands. We also invite the people of Liepāja to take part in shaping the program by voting for one of the featured songs,” says Baiba Vigule, project manager at the association “Baringtons K2”, the event organizer.
The concert will feature legendary rock compositions by “Pink Floyd”, “The Rolling Stones”, “The Animals”, “Queen”, and “Deep Purple”, alongside iconic songs by Latvian rock groups. As the rock capital of Latvia, Liepāja will be represented with music by “Pērkons”, “Līvi”, “Liepājas Brāļi”, and excerpts from Zigmars Liepiņš’s rock opera “Lāčplēsis”. A special new arrangement will be created for the “Liepāja Song”, chosen through a public vote. Everyone is invited to vote at ej.uz/roksliepaja until August 20.
The concert will feature four acclaimed Latvian musicians: Ilona Birģele, the principal organist of Riga’s St. James Cathedral with broad international experience; Virdžīnija Laube-Vītiņa, percussionist of the Latvian National Opera Orchestra and Wind Orchestra “Rīga”; and rock band “Laime Pilnīga” members Mārcis Vasiļevskis (guitar) and Ervīns Ramiņš (bass guitar, vocals). Familiar rock hits will resonate in the unforgettable atmosphere of Liepāja’s Lutheran Church, adding a unique and powerful sound to every note.
Tickets are available at www.okoncerts.lv and Biļešu Serviss ticket offices. Due to high demand, an additional concert has been announced for October 3.
The concert is organized by “Baringtons K2” in collaboration with “Okoncert”, with financial support from the “Liepāja 2027” Foundation and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia as part of the “Rock the rock” program.
