Call to Latvians abroad to get involved in the Liepāja2027 application

As we continue to work on Liepāja’s application for the second round of the European Capital of Culture 2027 competition, we call to every Latvian living abroad to share good practices, proposals and various initiatives from their residence countries that could be adopted and implemented in Liepāja.
“We know that tried and true values work best, so we invite you to share good practices that you have learnt while living abroad – some particular neighbourhood activities, events to get to know your neighbours, joint musical and creative ventures, loyalty-building methods, good and valuable volunteering projects.
These tips and suggestions will certainly help us in Liepāja to develop a broad and manifold public participation programme,” says Inta Šoriņa, Project Manager of the Liepāja Project Team of the European Capital of Culture 2027 application.
Ideas, proposals and initiatives can be related to the local community, neighbourhood events, various traditions, cultural and social events that have already become popular among the local communities and would be of great use to the residents of Liepāja.
We would be happy to receive your proposals until 14 January 2022.
Please, submit your ideas here
As already announced, the deadline for submitting the second round Bid of the European Capital of Culture 2027 competition is early April 2022. It consists of answers to 44 questions on long-term strategy, artistic programme and overall concept, public participation, marketing activities, audience research and financial offer, all together laid out on around 100 pages.
Nine Latvian cities took part in the first round of the competition, while three cities – Liepāja, Valmiera and Daugavpils — continue the run in the second round.
