Accessibility training for the Liepāja 2027 volunteers has taken place

On Saturday, November 15, accessibility training took place at the Liepāja 2027 office for participants of the Liepāja 2027 volunteer programme “Mission (un)rest”. It was led by representatives from SUSTENTO, Latvia’s umbrella organisation for people with special needs.
The seminar is part of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology’s New European Bauhaus project “From Know-How to Do-How,” implemented in Latvia by the Liepāja Restoration Centre in cooperation with the Liepāja 2027 Foundation.
About the Project
The EIT Community New European Bauhaus (NEB) is funded by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology and supports citizens, grass-roots initiatives and startups that embody the core values of the European Commission’s New European Bauhaus movement (sustainability, inclusivity and beauty) through business creation & acceleration, funding, mentorship and network.
The Enhance NEB programme supports the scaling and replication of successful projects previously funded through Connect NEB or Co-create NEB. Delivered by the EIT Community New European Bauhaus and funded by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology, the programme funds consortia of cities, regions or municipalities and local organisations to expand or adapt initiatives that transform the built environment in line with NEB values of sustainability, inclusion, and aesthetics.
Since 2023, the Liepāja Restoration Centre has served as Latvia’s official partner of the New European Bauhaus, with additional support from the State Culture Capital Foundation’s “Development Programme for Latvian Historical Lands”, as part of the Kurzeme Culture Programme 2025, implemented by the Kurzeme Planning Region.

192 “Liepāja 2027” programme events implemented in 2025
In 2025, the Liepāja 2027 Foundation implemented its most extensive and diversified programme of activities to date as part of Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027, developed under the overarching theme of “(un)rest”. Over the course of the year, a total of 192 cultural, cultural education and community-driven participation events were delivered across Liepāja, Kuldīga and the South Kurzeme region. On average, this meant that a unique event took place every other day in the city of the regions.

11 International Contemporary Art Events to be Added to the Liepāja 2027 Programme
The Liepāja 2027 Foundation has concluded its co-financing competition for international contemporary and multi genre art events, which was announced in June 2025. As a result of the competition, 11 projects with a total value of EUR 640,000 will be supported and implemented across Liepāja, South Kurzeme and the Kuldīga regions in 2027.
