On Saturday, May 17, the Liepāja club “KURSA” will host the first-ever “Rock Revolūcija” rock music festival. This event promises to become a highlight in Latvia’s alternative music scene, combining concerts, panel discussions, and the opportunity for music enthusiasts of different generations to come together.

During the day, starting at 2:00 PM, panel discussions will take place at the Liepāja Puppet Theatre in cooperation with the Latvian Rock Music Association. Musicians and industry experts will discuss the development of rock music in Latvia, its future prospects, the diversity of genres, and current challenges in the field.
Participants will include musicians from the bands “SEVER”, “Hypervert”, “Mattergy”, and “Bloody Heels”. The conversations will be moderated by representatives of the Latvian Rock Music Association – Jānis Bukums and Uģis Higo Glāzītis. The organizers invite everyone interested to attend the discussions in person by registering and filling out the form here.
In the evening, starting at 9:00 PM, club “KURSA” will transform into an alternative music festival venue, featuring performances by Latvian rock bands “SEVER”, “Bloody Heels”, “Hypervert”, “Mattergy”, and “Nettletie”. These artists have earned recognition both in Latvia and internationally, actively performing across borders.
The festival will conclude with an impressive audiovisual performance by the collective “Monday in Space”. During the event, a bar will be operating in collaboration with Blaķene Barber Shop Bar.

On 10 May, the European Capital of Culture – Liepāja 2027 – gathered its newest addition to the ambassadors’ team for their very first meeting. Thirty-two energetic and inspiring individuals from Liepāja, Kuldīga and South Kurzeme came together, having earned their title through a highly competitive selection process.
On Friday 9 May, communities across Liepāja, Kuldīga and the South Kurzeme region joined in creativity and conversation, as Europe Day was celebrated with a rich and varied programme organised by “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027.”
