
A meeting of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” supervisory council was held at the Ministry of Culture

On Wednesday, October 23, the “Liepāja 2027 Foundation” visited the Ministry of Culture to discuss significant issues regarding the overall program development, marketing and communication strategy, as well as the improvement of regional connectivity.
During the council meeting, representatives of Liepāja 2027 reported on the status of program content development, including the utilization of allocated funding, updates on team building and event planning, and marketing and communication plans, as well as attracting sponsors and partners. The importance of connectivity was particularly emphasized, aiming to make Liepāja more accessible for both local residents and tourists. Representatives from the Ministry of Transport informed about passenger transport connection possibilities for attending program events, both internationally and domestically.
During the meeting, representatives from the ministries confirmed that significant improvements to transportation infrastructure are planned, particularly in developing railway connections, which will strengthen Liepāja’s significance in the region and ensure easier access to the city and its surroundings.
The next program supervisory council meeting is scheduled for January 8, 2025, where program activities will be reviewed in relation to funding, as well as the evaluation of marketing activities in synergy with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia.

Liepāja 2027 invites young people to apply for an international training and mentoring programme
The Liepāja 2027 Foundation is opening applications for an international youth training and mentoring programme for the 2025/2026 academic year, aimed at young people aged 14 to 24 from Liepāja, South Kurzeme and Kuldīga.

On 9 September 2025 at 14:00, the Liepāja 2027 Foundation opens its doors at Dārza Street 4/8 and welcomes all to the masterclass “Eco-design in Events” led by researcher Kitija Balcare, Ph.D. (c.), who will guide us through the art of designing with responsibility.
