For the fifth consecutive year, musicians of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, together with their friends and like-minded colleagues, will embark on a journey across the South Kurzeme region, filling cultural centres, churches, historic manor houses, and other venues with the sound of music.
This year, the Rimbenieks festival will once again open at the Kazdanga Cultural Centre. Under the baton of conductor Guntis Kuzma, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra invites listeners on a musical journey—from Grieg’s playful Baroque stylisation to Mendelssohn’s Scottish landscapes. The true highlight of the evening, however, will be Heinrich Hübler’s rarely performed Concert Piece for Four Horns and Orchestra.
The soloist roles will be performed by the Liepāja French Horn Quartet — Latvia’s only professional ensemble of its kind.
The South Kurzeme Festival “Rimbenieks” is implemented within the framework of the “Liepāja 2027” programme, with funding provided by the Ministry of Culture, the State City of Liepāja, and the municipalities of South Kurzeme and Kuldīga. The festival is supported by LSEZ Terrabalt SIA.
