On 16 and 17 January, the Liepāja 2027 Foundation will take part in the official opening festival of Oulu – European Capital of Culture 2026 in Finland. As part of the programme, Liepāja 2027 will present an interactive stand “Liepāja Culture Glows with Warmth”, inviting festival visitors to experience the spirit of Liepāja and its summer atmosphere in the heart of the Nordic winter.

Over two days, guests will be invited to discover the energy, creativity and warmth of the Latvian coastal city through a creatively designed Liepāja 2027 space. The stand will be transformed into a summer oasis, featuring soft, warm lighting, sand underfoot and visual projections of Liepāja’s natural landscapes, creating a welcoming, inspiring and lively vibe.

Visitors will be encouraged to experience Liepāja with all their senses – seeing, hearing, tasting and feeling the essence of the city and its culture. The stand will offer an engaging encounter with Liepāja 2027, presenting culture as a force that glows with warmth, inspires and brings people together.

The Liepāja 2027 stand will officially open on 16 January at 17:00 at Torikatu 10 (Keskustan asiointipiste), 90100 Oulu, Finland. On 16 January, the stand will be open to visitors from 16:30 to 22:00, while on 17 January it will be open from 12:00 to 20:00.

During the Oulu 2026 opening festival, Liepāja 2027 will introduce the city as the European Capital of Culture 2027, presenting Liepāja’s cultural and tourism offer as well as the concept and goals of the (un)rest programme. The opening of the stand will be attended by the Chair of the Liepāja City Council, representatives of Liepāja 2027 and embassies, as well as teams from other European Capitals of Culture. Live kokle music and Latvian folk dances will add a distinctive cultural atmosphere to the experience.
