The lecture will answer questions about what permaculture is and how this concept of garden design and maintenance relates to the creation of four-season greenhouses.
Lecturers Agnis Graudulis and Jerome Osentowski (ASV)
Agnis Graudulis is a forester who manages his woodlands according to the principles of close-to-nature forestry. He grows nut trees in his own permaculture farm and serves as a board member of the Latvian Permaculture Association.
Jerome Osentowski has been a permaculture practitioner and educator for four decades. He runs the Central Rocky Mountain Permaculture Institute, where he integrates forest gardens, greenhouses, and small animals into a unified system. He also designs solar greenhouses and is the author of several books.

The lecture is part of the Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027 programme.
The event is organized with the financial support of the foundation “Liepāja 2027”, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, and Kuldiga District Council.
This third lecture is organized within the educational cycle “ABC of the Old Town Garden” within the framework of the project “Genius loci Programme. It is planned as a cycle of six lectures and workshops about gardens in historical settings, suitable plants, and garden care. It will take place in 2025 and in 2027. Meanwhile, in September 2026, we will invite professionals and garden enthusiasts to a broader forum on this topic to learn about historic gardens in different countries around the world.
