Lecturer Linda Balode, landscape architect, Dr.arch.

Linda Balode is a landscape architect and researcher whose professional work combines academic research with practical landscape architecture projects. She has studied sensory gardens and parks, as well as the impact of therapeutic gardens and natural spaces on human well-being and their potential for development. Alongside her academic work, she also practices as a landscape architect. In her professional activities, Linda Balode demonstrates that landscape architecture can serve as both a creative environment and a healing resource.

The lecture is part of the “Liepāja 2027 – European Capital of Culture” programme. The event is organized with the financial support of the foundation “Liepāja 2027” and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.

This third lecture is organized within the educational cycle “ABC OF THE OLD TOWN GARDEN” within the framework of the project “Genius loci Programme. It is planned as a cycle of six lectures and workshops about gardens in historical settings, suitable plants, and garden care. It will take place in 2025 and in 2027. Meanwhile, in September 2026, we will invite professionals and garden enthusiasts to a broader forum on this topic to learn about historic gardens in different countries around the world.
