Lecturers and authors of the publication: Ilze Rukšāne and Helēna Gūtmane, ALPS Landscape Workshop.

About the newly published book, the authors write in the introduction: “In nine chapters, both the ALPists and our colleagues, who at various times and events have worked alongside us in the interdisciplinary team, share observations and insights about the landscapes of the social, the healing, the street, the cultural and artistic, the future, living and working, the ecological, the research, as well as the everyday practice of our workshop.

The book is also an attempt to compile and make public the experience of the team of Latvian landscape architects; therefore, the reflections on the nine landscapes, presented in both English and Latvian, are illustrated with practice-based examples from the ALPS Landscape Workshop.”

Participation is free of charge.

No prior registration required.

This event is part of the “Liepāja 2027 – European Capital of Culture” programme. The event is organized with the financial support of the foundation “Liepāja 2027” and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.

This second lecture is organized within the educational cycle “ABC OF THE OLD TOWN GARDEN” within the framework of the project “Genius loci Programme.” It is planned as a cycle of six lectures and workshops about gardens in historical settings, suitable plants, and garden care. It will take place in 2025 and in 2027. Meanwhile, in September 2026, we will invite professionals and garden enthusiasts to a broader forum on this topic to learn about historic gardens in different countries around the world.
