The project aims to celebrate three remarkable figures – Pēteris Vasks, Ēriks Ešenvalds, and Ēvalds Rimbenieks – by presenting high-quality cultural events and establishing South Kurzeme as a hub of artistic inspiration on a European scale.

On 16 April 2026, the series will continue with a splendid concert in Aizpute dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the outstanding composer Pēteris Vasks, performed by the Latvian Radio Choir and the chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Rīga.

Later, on 30–31 July 2027, Priekule will host a festival of Ēriks Ešenvalds’ works to mark the composer’s 50th birthday. The celebration will feature the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra and the State Academic Choir “Latvija”, under the artistic direction of Māris Sirmais.

The “Rimbenieks” Festival has already become a key part of South Kurzeme’s musical tradition. Musicians from the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra team up with like-minded colleagues in various ensembles to perform high-quality chamber music in the most beautiful locations in South Kurzeme.

Organised by South Kurzeme Municipality Culture Department.
