This evening, on March 18, thousands of Liepāja residents gathered in the square by the Concert Hall “Great Amber” to celebrate the city’s 400th anniversary, experiencing the grand festive concert “Personal Code: Liepāja”!
The necessary adjustments – traffic restrictions will be in place from 13 to 20 March.
Young musicians from Liepāja will present their heartfelt homage to their city, while their counterparts from Tartu will extend a melodious greeting in celebration of this historic milestone.
At the heart of the market, the “Liepāja 2027” stand offered visitors seed packets in red and white tones, encouraging them to start their spring planting in the anniversary month.
During this anniversary festival, audiences will be treated to five concerts, offering a journey through the vast world of music, with stops at symphonic classicism and romanticism, jazz, chamber music, and opera.
The concert featured new compositions by renowned composers with deep ties to Liepāja—Ēriks Ešenvalds, Jānis Lūsēns, and Andris Kontauts—alongside historic musical pieces from the cathedral’s archives.
This luminous journey will unite over twenty illuminated landmarks under the theme “Creative Foresight,” exploring the delicate dance between art and technology.
From March to May, a series of events will offer opportunities for residents to actively shape their surroundings, strengthening both community ties and civic pride.
