With the theme “Cultural Growth. Synergy.”, the third Kurzeme Cultural Forum will be held on September 11 at the Nīca Culture House.
The forum will bring together creators of cultural life in Kurzeme – state and municipal employees working in the cultural sector, representatives of the private and NGO sectors, artists and art process organizers, culture students and other interested parties, as well as anyone who values the development of culture.
“Cultural growth is a process that points to continuous development, growth and transformation, starting with each individual, thus creating a higher-quality cultural environment around us. Only when knowledgeable, inspired, confident and energetic can we create events around us that are worth remembering.
Culture is constantly changing, especially now, as the surrounding world develops so rapidly, therefore it is particularly important to see the meeting points between different fields and to seek collaboration. Synergy is essential for innovation, development and effective cooperation – it helps overcome limitations and create new added value,” says forum organizer Daina Vanaga about this year’s theme.
This year, the forum will feature inspirational stories and guest lectures by lecturer, motivation coach and Latvian media professional Ieva Adamss, choreographer and dance pedagogue Jānis Purviņš, Director of Liepāja Rainis Secondary School Kārlis Strautiņš, Chairperson of the Board of the foundation Liepāja 2027 Inta Šoriņa and Public Participation Project Manager Justīne Rusakova, Latvian Academy of Culture professor, Doctor of Sociology and Vice-Rector for Research Anda Laķe, owner of the creative association Šarmants Ritvars Embrekts, musician and Liepāja 2027 Ambassador Emīls Balceris.
The forum moderator will be radio and television personality, cultural journalist and program creator Gustavs Terzens.
The forum will address topics such as the interaction of culture and education, the latest results of the Culture Barometer study, as well as various facets of the cultural sector and its impact on our everyday life, among others. Two discussion cycles will also take place: “Culture and Education” and “Culture and Self-Respect.”
“For the third year, the Cultural Forum gathers professionals of the field to share experiences and draw inspiration. We want this to be a celebration for cultural workers themselves – a moment when they can relax, gather ideas and gain inspiration for their future work. We warmly welcome everyone who values culture!” invites Linda Pričina, Head of the South Kurzeme Municipality Culture Department.
Participation in the forum is free of charge. Registration is mandatory by September 7. The number of places is limited. Application form
