Artist Kristaps Priede shares his “CreArt” project experience

20. August, 2025

Kristaps Priede works in painting, sculpture, and environmental art, which includes Land Art and Site-specific Art, where artworks are created for a particular location. In addition, Kristaps also engages in performance and photography.

So far, the artist has participated in two “CreArt” projects:

From May 11 to 25, he visited Kaunas, Lithuania, to create an art project for the festival “Švęskime upę!” (“Let’s Celebrate the River!”). He built a reed labyrinth titled “Flow”, with a total length of 60 meters. The project was located in a place where people come to relax after work, and the goal was to create a meditative atmosphere where visitors could spend time alone or enjoy dinner together.

From July 7 to 21, Kristaps stayed in the Portuguese city of Aveiro to create a graphic art drawing titled “Moliceiro Dance” for the “Festival dos Canais” (Canal Festival). The work was inspired by the city’s Art Nouveau architecture, salt-harvesting traditions, and the moliceiro boats once used for seaweed fishing.

Kristaps encourages Liepāja artists to apply for “CreArt” projects and residencies, as they provide a truly enriching experience.
