On the evening of June 12, we met with participants of the Liepāja 2027 Ambassador Programme who could not be with us at the first gathering in May.
During the event, ambassador badges – symbolising their belonging to the story of the land of (un)rest – were presented to singer Ance Krauze, artist Annemarija Gulbe, composer Uldis Marhilevičs, travel agency “JA Travel” director Agita Kurzeme, ship captain Jānis Freimanis, local historian Lelde Jagmina, and entrepreneur from Kuldīga municipality, Artis Rozītis.
These gatherings are important for strengthening the Liepāja 2027 ambassador community – to connect more closely, share ideas, and discuss how each of us can contribute to the European Capital of Culture journey.
We spoke about what Liepāja, Kuldīga, and the South Kurzeme (Dienvidkurzeme) region mean to each ambassador, as well as the themes and values we feel are essential to cultivate – both within the cultural programme and in society more broadly. From tourism development and visual arts to education projects, environmental issues, and civic participation – each ambassador’s experience and input plays a meaningful role in our shared path forward.
Thank you to our ambassadors for your responsiveness, presence, openness, and insights. The journey toward the European Capital of Culture continues!
