Our friends from Trenčín – European Capital of Culture 2026 – together with the Municipal Cultural Centre of Nové Mesto nad Váhom are announcing the 23rd edition of the international cartoon and satire biennial “Novomestský osteň 2025.”
Artists from around the globe are invited to creatively depict humour and satire without using words – only with their artistic vision and curiosity.
Theme of the year: Awakening Curiosity
Curiosity drives discovery, creativity, and change. As children, we’re naturally curious – but what if we could reawaken that mindset? This year’s theme invites artists to explore moments where curiosity sparks. What does a world without curiosity look like? And what could it become if we ignite it again?
Submission guidelines:
- Open to all artists aged 18+
- Up to 3 original, wordless artworks per artist
- Only unpublished, unawarded works are accepted
- Max size: A3; any artistic technique is allowed (hand-drawn, digital, etc.)
- AI-generated artworks will not be accepted
Deadline: 30 June 2025
Winners’ works will be exhibited at the official opening ceremony on 19 September 2025 in Slovakia.
