Latvian Academy of Culture researchers present study results on Liepāja 2027

On 6 May, from 11:00 to 13:00, everyone is warmly invited to the Chamber Hall of the Liepāja Great Amber Concert Hall for the public presentation of the evaluation study results of Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027 (Liepāja 2027).
Researchers from the Institute of Culture and Arts of the Latvian Academy of Culture (LKA) will present key findings from a baseline study conducted between 2024 and spring 2025.
The study explores Liepāja 2027 initiative under the lens, whether it is already shaping life in Liepāja, South Kurzeme, and Kuldīga — also known as the Land of (un)rest — across a range of social and economic dimensions.
The study is built around 12 thematic parts and several sub-projects, aimed at helping to track progress toward the goals of Liepāja 2027 and to better understand how culture influences everyday life — from community involvement and international cooperation to digital accessibility, hospitality, and how people feel about participating in shaping their surroundings.
The research was led by Dr. sc. soc. Anda Laķe, Mg. art. Ilona Asare, Mg. sc. soc. Laura Brutāne, Bc. art. Lote Katrīna Cērpa, Dr. oec. Ilze Judrupa, Mg. sc. soc. Gints Klāsons, Dr. geogr. Andris Klepers, Mg. art. Nadīna Medne, PhD Lolita Ozoliņa, Dr. art. Baiba Tjarve, PhD Līga Vinogradova, and Dr. oec. Ieva Zemīte. Sub-projects were supported by Andis Daugavvanags, Elizabete Granta, Anna Lieģeniece, Diāna Mierture, and Sigita Urlovska.
The study’s aim is to map out the current situation and identify what must be strengthened in order to fully achieve the ambitions of Liepāja 2027. In 2027, a benchmark study is to be carried out to measure the overall impact of Liepāja 2027.
The presentation event will take place live on Tuesday, 6 May at 11:00 in the Liepāja Great Amber Concert Hall. To attend, please register in advance via this application form.
The research was carried out by the Latvian Academy of Culture’s Institute of Culture and Arts between 1 March 2024 and 31 March 2025.
