Liepāja invites you to five special illuminated evenings – from March 18 to 22, the city’s streets, squares, and building facades are transformed into a space of light and art.
More than 20 light installations will are united by the theme “Creative Foresight,” exploring the interplay between art and technology.
The “Illuminated Liepāja” walk offers a chance to experience the city in a new way, where light displays, colors, and technology bring both history and contemporary creativity to life.
This year, Liepāja 2027 highlights two special light installations:
- “Berči NeMiers” at the Old Cemetery – an audiovisual installation that honors the legacy of Paul Max Berči, one of the key architects shaping Liepāja’s visual identity. His final resting place gains new significance, reminding us of his restless creative spirit and the city’s continuous growth. Created by BANG! and Mārtiņš Feldmanis.
- “Layers of Multitasking” in the courtyard at Teātra iela 3 – a light installation reflecting the modern struggle to balance time and information flow. As we strive to do everything and be everywhere, do we lose ourselves in the process? This work explores the fine line between productivity and exhaustion. Created by the artist collective Šarmants.
The walk will take place over four more evenings: March 19, 20, and 21 from 19:00 to 23:00, March 22 from 19:00 to 24:00
The city glows, streets take on new forms, and each step reveals something extraordinary. Take a walk and experience the magic of Liepāja’s lights!
