On April 8, 2025, at 17:00, the Chamber Hall of the Great Amber Concert Hall will welcome the youthful energy of two European Capitals of Culture – Liepāja 2027 and Tartu 2024 – united in a greeting to Liepāja’s 400th anniversary.

This concert will bring together the brightest young musicians from Liepāja Karosta Music School and Tartu Region Music School (Tartu Valla Muusikakool), offering a vibrant exchange of musical traditions, artistry, and shared cultural narratives.

The program will showcase solo and ensemble performances, each thoughtfully curated to honour the distinctive musical heritage of Latvia and Estonia. Young musicians from Liepāja will present their heartfelt homage to their city, while their counterparts from Tartu will extend a melodious greeting in celebration of this historic milestone. In a spirit of collaboration, students and concertmasters from both institutions will join forces, weaving together their talents in an inspiring display of unity through music.

This concert is a dialogue between past and future, tradition and innovation. The repertoire will illuminate the deep musical roots of Liepāja and the creative ingenuity of Tartu, culminating in a collective premiere. Under the guidance of folk music and improvisation virtuoso Julgī Stalte, all participants will unite for a special performance shaped during her masterclass.

From Tartu to Liepāja, this collaboration highlights music’s boundless ability to transcend borders, fostering artistic exchange and friendships that resonate far beyond the concert hall. It is an invitation to witness the unifying power of sound, where young musicians from different regions and traditions come together in a shared love for their craft, creating something truly remarkable.
