On Thursday, 16 July, representatives of Liepāja 2027 attended the official reception marking the conclusion of the State Visit of the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, to the Republic of Lithuania. Held in Klaipėda, the event brought together the Presidents of Latvia and Lithuania, ambassadors, diplomats, politicians, municipal leaders, and representatives of the business and cultural sectors from both countries.
We are sincerely grateful to the Chancery of the President of Latvia and the Embassy of Latvia in Lithuania for the initiative to dedicate this distinguished reception to Liepāja as the future European Capital of Culture 2027. The event provided a valuable opportunity to present Liepāja on an international stage, highlighting the city’s cultural ambitions, values, and the vision for its European Capital of Culture programme, while strengthening partnerships with our closest neighbours and collaborators.
We were especially pleased to bring a part of Liepāja to Klaipėda through a performance by a women’s choir conducted by Ilze Valce, bringing together singers from the RTU Liepāja Women’s Choir Atbalss and the Liepāja State Gymnasium Girls’ Choir. Their performance served as a vibrant cultural ambassador for Liepāja, reflecting the city’s creative spirit and high artistic standards. We extend our sincere thanks to the Liepāja Culture Department for its support.
We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who contributed to making this evening possible—for their warm hospitality, generous welcome, and the opportunity to further strengthen the friendship between Latvia and Lithuania.
We look forward to welcoming you to Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027.
