On Saturday, June 13, as part of the public engagement projects of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme, the first Ezerkrasts Picnic will take place – a community gathering aimed at helping neighbours get to know one another, share ideas, and jointly shape the future of the Ezerkrasts neighbourhood.
The event will be held in the Ezerkrasts II area, in the park on Dunikas Street opposite Rojas Street, near Porziņģis Sports Square. This location was chosen thoughtfully, as it is a publicly accessible municipal area with the potential to become a regular meeting place for the Ezerkrasts community in the future.
The event will begin at 10:00 with area cleanup. During this action, participants will work together to tidy up the area, collect litter, prepare the event site, and create a welcoming environment where people can meet and spend time together. The cleanup will also provide an opportunity for neighbours to get to know one another and collaborate.
From 11:00 to 15:00 the Ezerkrasts Picnic will take place. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the development of the Ezerkrasts neighbourhood, contribute to a community idea map, share their wishes and suggestions, take part in various creative activities, and participate in a lottery. Children will be able to enjoy a dedicated arts and crafts area, while adults will have the chance to get to know their neighbours in an informal atmosphere and discuss ways to build a more active and connected community.
During the picnic, everyone is invited to join the conversation, get to know one another, and become part of the emerging Ezerkrasts community. The goal of the event is to create an environment where people can discover shared interests and begin building new stories of collaboration.
The organizers invite participants to bring snacks, a positive attitude, and come with friends.
The event is organized by the association “Liepāja Residency and Culture Centre” in cooperation with association “Radi Vidi Pats” and with financial support from the foundation “Nodibinājums Liepāja 2027.” The programme of “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” is implemented by the Liepāja 2027 Foundation, with funding allocated by the City of Liepāja, the South Kurzeme and Kuldīga municipalities, and the Ministry of Culture.
