On 7 May, within the framework of the Latvian Culture Month in Germany, Liepāja 2027 had the opportunity to present the European Capital of Culture programme at the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Berlin to representatives of the cultural sector, cooperation partners and the Latvian diaspora in Germany.
Liepāja 2027 was represented by Board Member on Artistic Work Baiba Bartkeviča and International Relations Project Manager Elizabete Hartmane, introducing the vision of Liepāja as the European Capital of Culture 2027 and outlining the international collaboration opportunities.
Later that evening, the Embassy gathered more than 200 guests for a reception dedicated to the anniversary of the Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Latvia — an event that also formed part of the Latvian Culture Month in Germany programme.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Ambassador Alda Vanaga and the entire Embassy team for the warm welcome, thoughtful organisation and sustained commitment to strengthening Latvia’s cultural presence internationally. This occasion also marked one of the final major public events of Ambassador Vanaga’s term in Germany, adding a special significance to the day.
The Latvian Culture Month in Germany places Latvia’s cultural and creative landscape into a broad European context, while also drawing international attention to Liepāja 2027 as one of the forthcoming cultural focal points in Europe.
