For us, it feels completely natural and logical that the European Capital of Culture 2027 will be a collaborative endeavour between the City of Liepāja, South Kurzeme, and the Kuldīga Region. As one of Latvia’s ancient lands, Kurzeme stands at the dawn of a new era through this unified effort. The European Capital of Culture title was sent to us as a blessing, which will empower us to strengthen community ties, preserve our rich identity, and uphold shared European values across a third of Latvia. By working together, we’re not only empowering ourselves but also reinforcing the vital role of the Kurzeme region—and Latvia as a whole!
