From 7 to 9 November, the European Choral Association (ECA) held its General Assembly, “Membership Weekend 2025”, in Girona, Spain. Alongside the Song Festival Association, Diāna Daiva Priediena, Executive Producer of Liepāja 2027, also participated in the event.
Over the course of two days, participants had a unique opportunity to engage, learn, and connect with fellow choral enthusiasts from across Europe.
During the assembly, the Europa Cantat Festival, scheduled to take place in Liepāja in 2027, was presented to the members of the European Choral Association. The festival will feature workshops, concerts, masterclasses, and open singing sessions.
For the first time, a meeting of the International Festival Management Committee was convened, during which Latvian representatives showcased the progress achieved to date and agreed on the next strategic steps for the continued development of the Europa Cantat Festival in Liepāja.
While important work lies ahead, we look forward with great enthusiasm to sharing our culture and traditions with Europe.
From November 3 to 8, the CreArt Contemporary Art in Schools project continued at Liepāja Piemares Primary School. During the workshops led by artist Maija Demitere, students gained hands-on experience in photography, digital image editing, and printing techniques.
On Monday, November 10, in Grobiņa, at the Great Hall of the South Kurzeme Municipality Council, the Liepāja 2027 Foundation held an informational seminar about the cultural tourism co-financing competition “Land of (un)rest, Tell Us Stories!”. The event was attended by 63 participants.
On Saturday, 8 November, the Liepāja 2027 Foundation launched the second season of its international youth training and mentoring programme for the 2025/2026 academic year. This year, 24 young people from Aizpute, Grobiņa, Krote, Kuldīga, Nīca, Priekule, and Liepāja have joined the programme.
