Actors in Liepāja are discovering inclusive methods to bring theatre closer to children of all abilities

Telpā ar tumšām sienām un koka grīdu notiek radoša darbnīca vai teātra mēģinājums. Cilvēku grupa dažādās pozās sadarbojas ar lielu caurspīdīgu plēves gabalu, kas tiek pacelts gaisā, radot viļņojošu efektu. Daži dalībnieki stāv vai ceļos, citi vēro notiekošo, sēžot uz grīdas. Gaisma ieplūst caur logiem, izgaismojot telpu un piešķirot darbībai dinamisku, iedvesmojošu noskaņu. Attēls atspoguļo radošumu, kustību un kopdarba enerģiju.

From October 19 to 21, actors from the Liepāja Theatre, the Liepāja Puppet Theatre, and the Latvia Puppet Theatre are participating in inspiring masterclasses led by choreographer and researcher Dalija Aćin Thelander.

The masterclasses explore inclusive and sensory-based theatre for children with diverse needs, using movement and audience interaction to make performances more accessible and engaging.

“It is amazing to see performers deeply challenged when encountering completely new approaches to the audience, and to see them embracing the task in such a playful spirit,” says Dalija.

Step by step, we’re building a cultural space that welcomes, uplifts, and includes everyone!

From June 12 to 14, the International Symposium “ElektrON – The Future of Amber” took place in Liepāja and Pāvilosta. The event brought together artists, researchers, curators, designers, and cultural historians from Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Germany, Hong Kong, and Canada.
