On 7 December, in celebration of International Volunteer Day, the “Volunteer of the Year 2025” awards ceremony took place at the Spīķeri Concert Hall, where volunteers, coordinators, and organizers from across Latvia were honoured. The foundation Liepāja 2027 received the award in the category “Volunteer Work Organizer of the Year.”<\/p>
The award was presented in recognition of the development of a high-quality volunteer programme in preparation for Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027, supporting cultural events in Liepāja and across the South Kurzeme and Kuldīga municipalities.<\/p>
A heartfelt thank you to Liepāja 2027 volunteer coordinator Izabella Džeriņa for her dedication, professionalism, and ability to create an environment in which every volunteer feels valued and seen.<\/p>
We are delighted that the Liepāja 2027 volunteer programme “Mission (un)rest” has already brought together a team of 93 participants whose energy and willingness to contribute strengthen the implementation of the Liepāja 2027 programme.
