On Saturday, 25 October, from 11.00 to 13.00, the Baatas Market (Klaipēdas iela 104B) will host “Ražas ritmi” (Harvest Rhythms) – a community gathering and harvest festival designed to bring residents of Liepāja’s Dienvidrietumi neighbourhood closer together.<\/p>
The event forms part of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology’s New European Bauhaus project “From Know-How to Do-How,” implemented in Latvia by the Liepāja Restoration Centre in cooperation with the Liepāja 2027 Foundation.<\/p>
Earlier this summer, a programme of free masterclasses and activities encouraged residents to explore cultural heritage and sustainable practices in daily life. One of the events took place in the Dienvidrietumi – a southwestern residential area, sparking a warm response and inspiring organisers to continue fostering an active and engaged local community. This autumn’s festival builds on that momentum, encouraging neighbours to take part in shaping their environment and strengthening their sense of belonging.<\/p>
The festival will be filled with music and dance, led by the Rucava Ethnographic Ensemble and the Rucava rural band “Paurupīte.” For children, creative workshops will offer the chance to make nature-inspired stamps and playful pumpkin masks, while a seasonal market will showcase handicrafts by local artisans alongside autumn produce.<\/p>
“Ražas ritmi” is open to everyone, and participation is free of charge.<\/p>
Please note: Photography and filming will take place during the event. The resulting materials may be used for publicity by the organisers, the Liepāja Restoration Centre, and the Liepāja 2027 Foundation. Attendance at the festival constitutes agreement to be included in such recordings.<\/p>
The EIT Community New European Bauhaus (NEB) is funded by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology and supports citizens, grass-roots initiatives and startups that embody the core values of the European Commission’s New European Bauhaus movement (sustainability, inclusivity and beauty) through business creation & acceleration, funding, mentorship and network.<\/p>
The Enhance NEB programme supports the scaling and replication of successful projects previously funded through Connect NEB or Co-create NEB. Delivered by the EIT Community New European Bauhaus and funded by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology, the programme funds consortia of cities, regions or municipalities and local organisations to expand or adapt initiatives that transform the built environment in line with NEB values of sustainability, inclusion, and aesthetics.<\/p>
Since 2023, the Liepāja Restoration Centre has served as Latvia’s official partner of the New European Bauhaus, with additional support from the State Culture Capital Foundation’s “Development Programme for Latvian Historical Lands”, as part of the Kurzeme Culture Programme 2025, implemented by the Kurzeme Planning Region.<\/p>
