Encouraging Liepāja residents to create greener surroundings, the foundation “Liepāja 2027” is carrying out a greening and community engagement campaign this year — “Liepāja Blossoms!” — dedicated to the city’s 400th anniversary.
\nThe campaign began with a seed giveaway and a plant exchange event, and it will culminate in collective planting across various parts of the city this Friday, May 9.<\/p>
On Friday, 9 May, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., residents are invited to roll up their sleeves and get their hands in the soil. Together with the city’s gardeners, planting will take place across different residential districts of Liepāja:<\/p>
Everyone is welcome to participate — no prior registration is needed. Just bring a planting trowel and a willingness to help the city blossom.<\/p>
Later that day, at 3:00 p.m., Liepāja Blossoms! will mark Forest Day with the planting of 50 decorative apple trees alongside the Liepāja port promenade.
\nOrganised in collaboration with State JSC Latvian National Forests (“Latvijas valsts meži”), this symbolic gesture honours the city’s past and looks to a greener future.<\/p>
